Nerf Rebelle Allegiant Blaster Line-up for 2016

Hasbro Rolls Out Blasters for a March 2016 Movie Tie-In

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, Princess Merida from Disney’s Brave, Abigail Whistler from Blade Trinity, and now Tris Prior from Divergent are the pop culture icons we have to thank for a recent girl-power-inspired wave of Nerf Rebelle products. In this case specifically, we have a slew of new products based on the last of three books in the Divergent trilogy, and a two-part movie of the same name: Allegiant. Unfortunately, none of the blasters in this new series appear to be all-new...MORE designs. Instead, they are re-shells (or, more accurately, re-decos) of pre-existing models in the Nerf Rebelle line-up. Nevertheless, they look cool enough, and we're sure girls--and probably no shortage of boys, as well--will find lots to like about these models. So let's take a look at the product info available so far from sites like specialty retailer Entertainment Earth.

Nerf Rebelle Allegiant Six Shot Blaster

Find your destiny, just like Tris! Takek aim at any who would oppose you with the Nerf Rebelle Allegiant Six Shot Blaster. A half dozen darts are included in this specially designed blaster, which will help you practice your targeting skills with your Divergent friends. Don't miss this one! Ages 8 and up.

Our take: Modeled after the Nerf Rebelle Spylight blaster, the Allegiant Six Shot variant seen here does away with the removable flashlight and add-on message decoder cylinder. Those...MORE elements were needed for this original product as a "Secrets & Spies" model, but not as a blaster for the Allegiant series. The only question is whether or not the price will be any lower than the Spylight since the Allegiant version doesn't include these accessories.

Reload in style with the Nerf Rebelle Allegiant Darts. This thrilling set includes 10 unique darts with awesome markings you won't want to miss.

Our take: Rebelle darts with custom graphics can be found at roughly 50 cents a piece, so here's hoping the Allegiant custom darts aren't significantly more expensive. The do look cool, though.

    Nerf Rebelle Allegiant Training Blaster

Take aim at adventure with the Nerf Rebelle Allegiant Training Blaster!

Our take: This blaster was originally sold as the Rebelle Pink Crush, which included a faux crossbow attachment. Fortunately, this Allegiant version forgoes the crossbow arms and instead includes two targets and what appears to be a sticker set. Regardless, it seems like a move in the right direction--the Allegiant variant looks sleeker without the bow arms.

A full dozen darts are included in this specially designed blaster, which will help you practice your targeting skills with your Divergent friends. Don't miss this one! Ages 8 and up.

Our take: The Allegiant Blaster is a fine-looking take on the Rebelle Rapid Glow Super Stripes, which was previously a Toys "R" Us exclusive. That model had respectable dart velocity and...MORE range, but with poor accuracy and a penchant for jamming. We also didn't like the non-removable shoulder stock or the $30 price tag.

When we first spotted the Nerf Rebelle Allegiant line-up, we were captivated by the design. But upon closer inspection, we realized the blasters weren't really new, just re-designs of existing models. That's not always a bad thing (some Nerf models have had 6 or 7 variants over the years), but it would still be nice of at least one model in the new range showed us something we hadn't basically seen already.
