It may not be traditional to make hummus without tahini as in this no-tahini black bean hummus recipe, but it lowers the amount of fat quite a bit, and it's handy for when you don't have any tahini or you can't find it at the grocery store. Use this reduced fat homemade hummus without tahini as a sandwich spread, or as a healthy dip for your raw veggies. Hummus is a naturally vegetarian and vegan food.

What You'll Need

  • 1 15 ounce can chickpeas, drained (garbanzo peans)
  • 1 15 ounce can black beans, drained
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste
