This one pot spaghetti dinner is made with extra water, which the pasta will absorb as it cooks.  It's an easy one-pot dinner, making cleanup a breeze.

Serve with garlic bread and a tossed salad.

What You'll Need

  • 1/2 to 3/4 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • pinch ground cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dried leaf basil, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf oregano, crumbled
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce or your favorite spaghetti sauce
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 12 ounces spaghetti, uncooked, broken in half
  • salt and  freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

How to Make It

1. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, cayenne pepper, basil, and oregano. Cook, stirring to break up meat, until browned, about 5 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.

2. Add 2 cups water, the spaghetti sauce, tomato paste, and the uncooked spaghetti; bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, until the spaghetti is just tender and most of the liquid is absorbed about 15 minutes.

3. Turn off the heat and let pan stand, covered, for 5 minutes. Season with pepper to taste and serve sprinkled with the cheese.
