    Learn how to make a lovely origami heart letterfold! This easy to make origami heart is a great way to send a quick love note for Valentine's Day! 

    This origami letterfold is made using rectangular paper, A4 sized paper works great but you can use any kind of rectangle. The pink origami heart in the photo is made from thin craft paper.

    You can use any type of paper you like, such as wrapping paper, printer paper or even a dollar bill!

    Traditionally, origami letter folds are a way to send notes...MORE between friends (or lovers!) - the note is written on the paper before folding it up.

    1. Start with your paper white side up if you have one! 

    Have your paper with the shortest sides on the top and bottom.

    2. Fold the bottom right corner up diagonally, aligning it to the left edge of the paper. Unfold.

    3. Fold the bottom left corner up diagonally and again align it to the right edge.

    4. Unfold.

    5. Flip the paper over to the other side, from left to right.

    6. Fold the bottom edge up, creating a crease straight through the center of the X you created.

    7. Unfold the last step.

    8. Flip the paper back over to the other side and rotate it so that the X is at the top.

    9. Hold the left and right edges of the top section and bring them up and together, the top section should overlap down on top.

    10. Flatten out the top section and make sure all the edges align nicely.

    11. Fold the bottom edge up about 1 third of the way up.

    12. Fold the bottom edge up again to align with the bottom of the triangle. You may need to unfold the previous step to get this correct.

    13. Next, fold the bottom left and right corner flaps up to the top point and fold nicely.

    14. Flip the paper over to the other side.

    15. Fold the top point down, it will reach a point where it cannot be folded any further and that is where the crease should be.

    16. Fold the bottom left and right corners in to the middle.

    17. To create the top of the heart, bring the top points down diagonally, you can adjust the angle here.

    18. Tuck the little flaps underneath the left and right sections.

    19. Fold the bottom left and right corners to the center.

    20. Pick up the heart and have a look at the upside down triangle in the middle, there are little pockets you can insert the flaps into.

    Now your origami letterfold heart is complete. It looks great on both the back and the front!
