With over 10 years experience as an Executive Chef, 15 years as a professional cook, and 8 years of study dedicated to herbs, spices, and salts... Pete Taylor knows flavor.
Pete retired from his culinary career to start Spiceologist.com, where he serves as CEO and Chief Flavor Innovator. Pete also consults for major brands such as Sabra Hummus and Zaycon Fresh.
Pete started his culinary career in Boston. Working his way up to an Executive Chef by the age of 22. His career as a chef has brought him to many far off places. One highlight of his career was accepting the Executive Chef position at the acclaimed restaurant "The Stone Terrace" on St. John in the U.S Virgin Islands.
After moving to the Pacific Northwest, Pete started the premier catering company "Star Chef" which focused on luxury off-premises weddings, and corporate retreats. A few years later, Pete took over the Executive Chef position at Cavanaugh's Resort in beautiful Priest Lake Idaho, where he began to develop a passion for spice. Over the course of 2 years, Pete started to develop unique spice blends that could be used as a rub, or a seasoning. Soon after, he launched Spiceologist.com, where he showcased all of his spice creations, including the pivoted Spiceologist Block, a modular, truly unique spice organizational system that allows customers to not only "Pick Your Own Spice", but also laser engrave whatever they desire on the handcrafted European Beech Wood block.
After receiving his culinary degree from the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy, Pete, the autodidact that he is, continued his spice education and became a self-proclaimed "Spice Guru". Currently, Pete is traveling abroad to learn more about spices in their natural habitats.
It's so fun to get creative in the kitchen, and experimenting with flavor! If I'm not in our laboratory concocting new spice blends, you'll probably catch me in our test kitchen putting our blends to practice. I encourage each and every one of you to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with spices yourself.
