    What Is a Luxury Vodka?

House of Vodka Bar in Rato
The vodka market is one of the biggest in the liquor world and finding a really good vodka is a challenge for everyone. Luckily we have a lot of great options to explore. Lonely Planet Images/Getty Images

There are many vodkas in the world. Some are good, many are mediocre, and some are spectacular. For the vodka connoisseur, it can be an endless pursuit to discover and taste all of them (though this is not a bad challenge to have).

There is also a broad reach of what can be defined as luxury vodka. It is all a matter of perspective and it really is a subjective term that is going to be different for everyone.

You will find many lists online that explore the luxury vodkas and they are filled with...MORE beautiful bottles that are only attainable by the rich and famous. They really are luxurious, if price defines that, and they are probably pretty good.

However, we live in the real world where money is a factor and budgets are tight. Spending thousands on a single bottle of booze is about as close to reality as the chances of winning a lottery jackpot.

To me, luxury is the vodka that I want to mix into my Vodka Martini. It is not my everyday well vodka, but the good stuff that comes out on special occasions is shared with a few good friends and is savored and enjoyed in the simplest of cocktails.

It also means that the vodka is just a little bit harder to obtain than the giants of the vodka world that can be found everywhere. These are the special vodkas that you have to be 'in the know' to recognize.

In the following pages, we will explore some of the best international vodka brands available today.
