Purex Crystals was the first in-wash laundry scent enhancer to hit the laundry aisle shelves in stores. Since the product's introduction in 2011, other laundry scent enhancers like Downy Unstopables, Gain Fireworks and Snuggle Scent Boosters have appeared as competition. The Purex Crystals line has grown and changed through the years and now comes in new fragrances, a new formula and even a scent for baby's laundry.
Purex Crystals In Wash Scent Enhancer
Purex Crystals have gone through a number of scent variations through the years and are now offered in four scents and several sizes. The product is added at the beginning of the wash cycle to infuse scent throughout the laundry load. You can choose to add as much or as little of the product as you'd like to acquire the level of fragrance you desire.
Purex Crystals are safe to use in both standard and HE washers. They should be added directly to the empty washer drum before clothes are added. Never place the pellets in an automatic dispenser because they may not dissolve completely and leave a residue on fabrics.

The Purex Brand Story
Purex products including liquid laundry detergent, powder laundry detergent, liquid fabric softeners, dryer sheets, Magic Release and color safe bleach are manufactured by Dial Corporation of Henkel North America.
Henkel is an international company that produces adhesives, cleaning products and personal care products around the world. Many familiar United States brands - Loctite, Soft Scrub, Dial Soap, Right Guard, Soft 'n Dri - are products of Henkel.
The name Purex was coined in 1923 for a chlorine bleach developed by Lionel and Ray Precourt. By 1946, the Purex company added their first powdered laundry detergent, Trend. In 1975 liquid laundry detergents hit the shelves and the Purex brand has continued to grow and offer new products. Their 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets received a 2010 Edison Award for Best New Household Product.
Product Review and Laundry Recommendations
Purex Crystals are very simple to use and offer several scents so you're sure to find one you love. They are less expensive than some other brands but still deliver plenty of fragrance.
Since Purex Crystals do not contain any fabric softening ingredients that can reduce fire retardancy, the product is safe to use on children's sleepwear and will not cause towels to become less absorbent. However, if you or someone in your family has chemical sensitivities it should be used with caution. The addition of dyes can also cause irritation for anyone with skin sensitivity.
If long-lasting fragrance is what you desire, Purex Crystals should be added to your laundry room shelf. However, if you are trying to watch your budget, since the product does nothing to clean or soften clothes, it is a laundry product that can be skipped in exchange for a good quality scented detergent.
