    Held in Geneva, Switzerland by Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo, this record-breaking Only Watch lot was one of 44 offered during a charity auction to benefit Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. All the watches in the November, 2015 sale were donated by leading watch manufacturers.

    This Patek Philippe watch was created specially for Only Watch 2015, and it is the first and only version of this watch to be produced in steel, according to OnlyWatch.com. An ultimate collectible, it...MORE broke the record for highest price ever paid for a wristwatch at auction selling for $7.3 million

    Julien's Auctions, a Beverly Hills auction house specializing in entertainment memorabilia, sold was has been described as "the most important Beatle guitar to ever hit the auction block." 

    This guitar was missing for more than 50 years, but what makes it even more significant is that John Lennon used it in the early 1960s to write many of the Beatles hit songs and performed on stage with the band strumming this instrument. It went missing in 1963.

    The Lennon guitar sold for the...MORE record-breaking price of $2.41 million in November, 2015.

    Sold in May, 2015 by Sotheby's in Geneva, this ring is set with a cushion-cut Burmese stone known as "The Sunrise Ruby." It weighs in at 25.59 carats and is set between two shield-shaped diamonds. It is signed by Cartier, one of the world's preeminent jewelers. The sale of this piece for  $30,335,698 broke not only a record for a ruby sold at auction, but also for Cartier jewelry.

    Prices for high quality Mickey Mantle rookie cards went sky-high in 2015 exhibiting that the market for rare cards is indeed strong. Several were sold for formidable prices earlier in the year, but Dallas-based Heritage Auctions reported the top lot in December, 2015. 

    The high-grade 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie baseball card shown here sold in an online auction for $525,800, breaking the prior record paid for a Mantle rookie card.

    Theriault’s saw strong interest in rare dolls during its January, 2015 auction in Newport Beach, California. Among the lots was a doll that broke an American record for a doll sold at auction as well as the world record for a French doll.

    The Albert Marque doll shown here wearing a period costume of Lorraine, was the top lot. Bidding started at $150,000 and rose quickly as a phone bidder ultimately won the doll for $310,000.
