Salmon steaks are frequently on sale in the supermarket. They freeze beautifully, so when the price drops, stock up on them, rewrap in freezer wrap, and store. This marinade for the salmon makes the meat very tender and melting and adds wonderful flavor.

This elegant dinner party menu is perfect for the holidays or any time of year. And the recipes are easy enough for even beginning cooks to make.

Since the main dish is so simple, the accompaniments can be more complicated.

Antique Broccoli is a really wonderful casserole; don't be put off by the name. A creamy cheese sauce wraps around baby carrots and broccoli and is topped with crisp buttered toast crumbs; it can easily be made ahead.

And the appetizer, made with caramelized onions and gorgonzola cheese on crisp french bread, is a perfect starter. Soft garlic breadsticks are made from refrigerated dinner roll dough so they are super easy.

For dessert, pecans and caramel in a flaky pie crust are drizzled with smooth melted chocolate. All you need to add is some sparkling apple cider or some white wine for a wonderful party.

Set your table with your prettiest china, flatware, and stemware and put some flowers in the center. This is an elegant and easy dinner perfect for the holidays.
