These country-style pork ribs are slow cooked to perfection with a delicious honey, brown sugar, and sesame sauce.

What You'll Need

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger, or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 3 to 4 pounds boneless country style pork ribs
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion, with green

How to Make It

In large bowl, combine, the first nine ingredients. Add ribs and turn to coat. Place the onion in bottom of slow cooker; arrange ribs on top.

Cover and cook on low for 5 to 7 hours.

To thicken the sauce, pour the liquids into a saucepan  (strain through a mesh sieve if you want a fairly clear sauce) and boil for about 5 minutes. Combine 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and blend well. Stir into the liquids and cook, stirring, until thickened.

Place ribs on serving platter, drizzle with the sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onion.

Makes 6 servings.

Note: Instructions for reducing and thickening the sauce were added as an update.
