In college, Shelby studied English, but realized during her junior year that Journalism was her calling. She further studied the art of writing by attending an intensive Journalism program for one semester of college at American University in Washington, D.C., where she shadowed Washington Post reporters and discovered various forms of Journalism. That's when she decided she wanted to pursue lifestyle writing.
Upon graduation, she continued her education by earning a Master's degree in Journalism. Throughout her program, she freelanced to local and national outlets, and later, worked as an editor at a national magazine. Insatiably curious, she continues to seek out fresh ideas and new things to learn about each and every day.
