Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese Tapas Recipe

This recipe for salmon with cream cheese (Salmon Ahumado con Queso Blando) shows you how to make a delicious "tapa" or appetizer that you can serve along with a Spanish omelet, chorizo sausage or with a glass of Spanish wine as an afternoon snack. No wonder it is becoming more and more popular in Spain!

What You'll Need

  • 1/2 French-style baguette
  • 1/2 pound smoked salmon
  • 1/2 pound cream cheese or any mild soft cheese
  • 2 slices lemon

How to Make It

  1. Cut the baguette into slices approximately 1/4-inch thick.
  2. Lightly toast both sides.
  3. Allow to cool about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Slice or spread cheese over each piece of toast.
  5. Cut salmon into toast-size pieces and place over cheese.
  6. Serve with ​a lemon slice, since your guests may wish to squeeze lemon over top.
