Having a camping party or celebrating summer with some s'mores? Try some of these fun games for kids to play before making those campfire treats.

S’mores Scavenger Hunt

Hide the ingredients needed to make s’mores around the campsite. If you have only a handful of players, you can hide the box of graham crackers, a bag of marshmallows and some chocolate bars for them to seek and find. If you have several children, however, you may want to make up one or two individual s’mores packets for each to find (just put the ingredients in sealable sandwich-bags). Once they have gathered all of the items, they can get down to the business of making s’mores.

Mystery S’mores Game

To play this s’mores-making game, set up a bar with six variations of each s’mores component. For instance:

Graham cracker component:

  • Cinnamon Grahams
  • Chocolate Grahams
  • Fudge Stripe Cookies
  • Oreo Cookies
  • Ritz Crackers
  • Sugar Wafers

Chocolate Component:

  • Milk Chocolate
  • Crunch Bar
  • Peanut Butter Cup
  • Chocolate Covered Mints
  • Caramel-Filled Chocolate
  • White Chocolate

Marshmallow Component

Label each ingredient from each category with a number from one to six. Before making their s’mores, players roll the dice three times (once for each category). They must then make their s’mores using the ingredients that match the numbers they rolled.

Marshmallow on a Spoon Race

Divide kids into two teams. Give each team a bag of marshmallows and a spoon. Place a clean, empty bucket close to the campfire. One at a time, players must race, relay-style to carry marshmallows on the spoon and place it in the bucket (without dropping it from the spoon). The first team to empty their bag and fill their bucket wins.

S’mores Recipe Contest

Provide a large variety of S’mores ingredients. Challenge kids to create a unique S’mores recipe. Have a few adults on hand to taste the creations and award prizes for most creative, tastiest, most unique flavor combination, and so on.
