Spaghetti sauce recipe with lean ground beef and mushrooms and Parmesan cheese.

What You'll Need

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon basil, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut in chunks
  • 1 pound spaghetti, cooked and drained
  • grated Parmesan cheese

How to Make It

  1. In a Dutch oven or sauté pan​​, brown ground beef with chopped onion. 
  2. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, mushrooms, and seasonings.
  3. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
  4. Add green pepper chunks; simmer for 15 minutes longer.
  5. Serve sauce over spaghetti and pass the Parmesan cheese.
