St. Patrick's Day Recipes and Menus

St. Patrick's Day is a holiday that celebrates the feast of St. Patrick. It's a religious holiday in Ireland. Since it falls during Lent, the prohibitions against meat and alcohol consumption are waived, so people can feast. In America, there aren't many religious traditions attached to the holiday; people mostly wear green!

Some cities in this country go all-out. In Chicago they even dye the river green! Parades, green beer, and some fabulous food are all part of this holiday. The...MORE foods that are traditional include corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, lamb stew, and mint desserts. Even if you aren't Irish, celebrate this holiday with these delicious and easy recipes.

These quick and easy recipes are all delicious and reminiscent of Ireland. My favorites include Corned Beef Shepherd's Pie, which is fragrant and comforting, and Irish Soda bread with caraway seeds, raisins, and sour cream. (The bread, by the way, is fabulous toasted for breakfast and spread with whipped honey.) You can mix and match them any way you like to some up with lots of great menus.
