Review of Star Mark Everlasting Treat Balls
When I first saw the Star Mark Everlasting Treat Ball I knew I had to give it a try. Like many dogs, my dog is highly food motivated. So, this interactive treat toy looked like the perfect choice.
The Everlasting Treat Ball is a soft yet durable plastic toy that is nearly spherical in shape. The top and bottom are indented and the center has a hollow compartment. The Everlasting Treat Ball comes with two Everlasting Treats that snap into either end. The Everlasting Treats are dome/disc-shaped hard chew treats. Unfortunately, I found that the treats popped out easily after my dog chewed on the toy for less than 10 minutes. Within another 10 minutes, she had polished off both treats.
The good news is that the Everlasting Treat Ball works great with Everlocking Treats.
These consist of two treats similar to the Everlasting Treats, but with a hole in the center. A third rod-shaped treat actually screws the two treats together through the Treat Ball. This worked out very well and actually occupied my dog for nearly an hour.
Yet another option: the hollow center compartment of the Treat Ball can be filled with kibble or small dog treats.
My dog really had to work on getting those treats out, and it took over an hour for her to finish them off. Plus, it really challenged her - she had to try multiple methods to get to the treats. The compartment is small enough to avoid the risk of overfeeding.
Overall, I recommend the Everlasting Treat Ball as an interactive food toy. However, for moderate to aggressive chewers, the toy works best with Everlocking Treats, kibble or basic dog treats (rather than the Everlasting Treats that come with the toy). The Everlasting Treat Ball comes in small, medium and large sizes. Replacement Everlasting or Everlocking Treats can be purchased in several flavors and sizes as well.
