Start with Broccoli Slaw

Broccoli slaw is one of the most nutritious and least expensive foods in the supermarket. To make broccoli slaw yourself, you must peel broccoli and cut it into very thin strips. Unless you have a mandolin or a food processor, this takes a lot of time!

The broccoli slaw used in these recipes is sold right by the bagged salad greens in the produce aisle at the supermarket. It's thinly sliced broccoli, sometimes packaged with carrots or cabbage.

Buy a package or two and try these quick and easy recipes using this healthy ingredient.

You can use other coleslaw blends in place of the broccoli slaw if you'd like. Also consider using other ingredients: low fat mayonnaise or plain yogurt instead of full-fat mayo; use cooked shrimp or chopped ham in place of chicken; or use other breads for sandwiches. Think about adding other vegetables too. Some cubed avocados, sliced or halved cherry tomatoes, frozen peas, or chopped red bell peppers would all be delicious. Enjoy.

Start With Broccoli Slaw

  • Broccoli Slaw
Or, make your own broccoli slaw! It helps if you have a food processor with a shredding disc. Or a helper with lots of strength.
  • Easiest Chicken Salad
Cooked chicken combines with crisp broccoli slaw, mayo, and mustard for a delicious chicken salad you make in just minutes. Yum.
  • Seven Layer Slaw
You can use all broccoli slaw instead of the combination of coleslaw mix, shredded carrots, and broccoli slaw. This fresh five ingredient salad is easy, crunchy, and quick!
  • Kung Pao Pork
Another five ingredient recipe! I love this dish with pork, but you could use shrimp, chicken, tofu, or thinly sliced beef. Serve it with lots of hot cooked rice.
  • Sausage and Slaw Sandwiches
There is no better complement to a crisp and juicy, hot grilled Polish sausage than a big spoonful of crisp and cold broccoli slaw with dill.
  • BBQ Pork and Slaw
You can use a package of cooked barbecued pork from the deli, or your own leftover recipe to make this spectacular recipe. The combination of rich and tender, highly seasoned pork with fresh and crisp broccoli slaw is wonderful.
  • Spicy Fish and Slaw Tacos
Fresh fish in tacos is a nice twist; top with a crisp and crunchy slaw to add contrast and bring all the flavors together.
  • Dilled Broccoli Slaw
This four ingredient recipe is super quick and flavorful. You can substitute other herbs for the dill if you'd like; fresh basil or tarragon would be delicious.
