Stewed fruits make for a delicious dessert, but you can also sneak them into a breakfast or decadent brunch menu. While most stewed fruit recipes call for hours of watchful cooking, this recipe uses your slow cooker so you can go about your day while your fruit cooks.
We love the sweetened mixture of prunes, dried apricots and pears with and a hint vanilla and fresh lemon juice. Add a cinnamon stick or two if you like.
- Combine all of the fruits together in your slow cooker along with the water, sugar, vanilla, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Stir to blend.
- Cover and cook on low until the fruit is tender, about 6 to 8 hours.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
