Stitch Love: Sweet Creatures Big & Small
If you love embroidery and animals, or if you know someone who loves animals, you will love Stitch Love: Sweet Creatures Big & Small. It's written by yours truly (Mollie Johanson), and it's filled with all kinds of sweet critters to embroider and sew.
This book is split into two main sections: projects and patterns.
The projects all have at least some embroidery involved, and most require some sewing either by hand or on a sewing machine. And every project makes an animal friend or... adds one to an object through embroidery.
Some examples of projects are: soft toys, a stroller quilt, stitched accessories, embellished clothing, and more. They are kid-friendly, but adults will love the projects too.

The Embroidery Gallery
The embroidery motifs are designed to be used with many of the projects, but they also work well on their own or combined to create a custom pattern.
There are over 100 embroidery motifs in the book, and every single one is shown embroidered in a 16-page gallery. The patterns are broken down into categories like arctic or farm animals, pets or backyard critters, and even fantasy creatures.
Of course, it would be impossible to include every animal, or even come close, so I've also created... some extra patterns that I've shared at Wild Olive. Searching for Stitch Love pattern will turn up a whole bunch, including some super sweet sea creatures!
At the back of the book, you'll also find basic embroidery and sewing instructions, so it's suitable for both beginners and more advanced stitchers of all ages.Continue to 3 of 4 below.

Easy Sewing Projects with Embroidery
The cover of Stitch Love shows a few of the projects that are more sewing focused, but lots of the projects are designed to work with any of the embroidery patterns.
For example, the Holiday Mouse Furoshiki Cloth is a reusable gift wrap. The Holiday Mouse can be altered work with a variety of holidays, but any embroidery can be swapped in, making it a versatile project. I've even used the instructions to make a bread cloth rather than a wrapping cloth!
With 25 projects and so many animal... embroidery patterns, I'm quite sure that you'll have plenty of critters to keep your fingers stitching!
Stitch Love: Sweet Creatures Big & Small by Mollie Johanson is available online and through local bookstores. And continue on for a free pattern made just for About.com readers!Continue to 4 of 4 below.
