The wine is made from the Muscat Blanc grape, which offers up the exotic aromas of orange blossom, peach and citrus themes. The bright aromas and honeyed fruit make for a remarkable sangria base. Moscato comes in three distinct styles: still, sparkling and dessert. For this particular sangria, stick with the still variety which often has higher levels of alcohol (as compared to the sparkling version that weighs in around 6% abv) and carries a bit more acidity on the palate. Don't pay more than $10 for a Moscato that you are going to blend into a sangria, as the nuances will be masked by the overall cocktail-nature of the liqueur, fruit and soda.

- 1 750 ml bottle of Moscato
- 2 cups of lemon-lime soda
- 1 pint of fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 2 oranges
- 1/4 cup Strawberry Liqueur
- Fresh mint sprig
- Optional: orange slice
- Combine bottle of Moscato wine with lemon-lime soda in a large pitcher.
- Wash and slice pint of fresh strawberries and add to pitcher.
- Slice one orange into thin pinwheels and add to pitcher.
- Juice one orange and muddle it with mint to taste. Add to pitcher.
- Add 1/4 cup of strawberry liqueur
- Garnish with a sprig of mint and slice of optional orange.
