Sunjoy Zero-Gravity Chair
We purchased the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair so our writer could put it to the test. Keep reading for our full product review.
My husband and I are new homeowners, and one of our favorite things about this new house is our backyard. We’ve never had green space of our own, and while it’s relatively tiny, there’s plenty of room to spread out and soak up the sun—a much-needed activity now that winter’s in the rearview.
But, as new homeowners paying a mortgage for the first time, we are a bit strapped for cash. We’d love to have a nice set of patio furniture, but that’s on our list of future plans. For the past year, it’s been folding chairs and beach towels on the ground. That is until we met the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair. This affordable lounge chair is like a folding chair 2.0. Unlike our cheap old chairs, this zero-gravity chair reclines, and it does so with ease. From that first time soaking up warmer spring weather in the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair, I was hooked. Here are some of my favorite features of the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair, starting first and foremost with its ease of use.
Every time I sit in this chair, it molds to fit my body. It moves intuitively as I do, whether I’m reclining back or sitting up to read. The transition is about as easy as the setup, which was my absolute favorite kind of installation: Take the chair out of the box, set it on the ground, add the removable pillow, and voila!
The chair moves intuitively as I do, whether I’m reclining back or sitting up to read.
The Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair material is another positive. The Textilene fabric is weather-resistant, which is quite important given I live near Lake Erie and experience some wild weather patterns as a result. I know I don’t have to run out in a storm to move this chair to safety. It’s durable and strong, and therefore the perfect new addition to my back patio.
The material is more than weather-resistant; it’s also comfortable. It has built-in breathability and a stay-cool seating surface that lets me stay outside for extended periods—even on those toastier sunny days. It comes in a variety of colors, including black (my choice), blue, beige, brown, grey, and burgundy.
I love how portable this chair is. While I love to sunbathe, I do so in spurts. I need shade to cool off (and protect my skin), and this chair is easy to move from one spot to another. It folds up tightly, and with a lightweight frame, it’s unexpectedly easy to lift.
This chair is easy to move from one spot to another.
The only downside I could find with this chair is size. While I’m 5’4”, my brother is around 6 feet tall, and had trouble sitting comfortably. His head was above the pillow—which is obviously not ideal.

The Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair is impressively portable. It’s 20.5 inches wide, 69.3 inches in length, and 46 inches high when reclined. It compresses quickly for easy transitioning from one place to another.

What colors does the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair come in?
The Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair is available in a variety of color options. I went with black, but you can also choose burgundy, beige, brown, grey, or blue.
Is the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair comfortable?
Yes! I fell in love with this chair from the first second I sat in it. I love sitting out in the sun and made do with the cheap fold-up chairs I had, but this takes my outdoor lounging up a level. It may be a little tricky for those who are taller than 6 feet, but as a 5'4" female, it fit me perfectly.
What is the maximum weight recommended for this chair?
Sunjoy recommends a maximum weight of 330 pounds for safety.
Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair vs. Phi Villa Oversize Padded Zero Gravity Chair
The Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair was my exciting upgrade from a folding chair to a cozy zero gravity chair, but the Phi Villa Oversize Padded Zero Gravity Chair takes that one step further. This oversize chair is deluxe with a padded seat top to bottom, extra-large armrests, and more color options than the Sunjoy chair. It’s ideal for those who are a bit taller and can’t fit comfortably in the Sunjoy, but this chair does come at a higher price point. The Phi Villa chair runs for around $115—almost double the Sunjoy chair. Is it worth it? It depends. I felt comfortable for hours in the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair, but those with bad backs, a taller stature, or those just looking for a little splurge will find even more luxury in the Phi Villa chair. But let the record show I’m 100 percent satisfied with my chair of choice!
An ideal and affordable lounging option.
If the idea of lounging under the sun—without breaking the bank—is intriguing, the Sunjoy Zero Gravity Chair is a great option. This comfortable chair fits most spaces and offers hours of comfortable relaxation under the sun.
