Single dose laundry detergent has been around for many years, especially in Europe. But now the pacs have hit North America with much fanfare. Sunlight has introduced Triple Clean Pacs in Spring Splash scent in Canada as a convenient method of dispensing laundry detergent.

Sunlight Triple Clean Pacs - Spring Splash

Manufactured to dissolve completely in any temperature of water - including Canadian cold, Sunlight Triple Clean Pacs can be used in high-efficiency and regular washers.

The pacs are little pillows of super concentrated Sunlight laundry detergent that you toss into the washer. The outer skin of the packs is a polyvinyl film that dissolves to release the detergent.

The pacs are added to a regular washer drum before adding clothes. One pack is recommended per average load. Two packs can be added if the load is large or heavily soiled. If using with a front loader, the pack must be placed directly in the drum - not in the dispenser drawer. The product is save to use with any color washable fabric.

Product Review and Recommendations

I tested Sunlight Triple Clean Pacs on our everyday laundry and on some tougher-to-remove stains like oil stains.

For the everyday soil of normal wear, the laundry came out clean and smelling fresh. The oil stains were not removed completely and needed to be treated with a stain remover and rewashed. The formula is low-sudsing which is a plus for complete rinsing.

The pacs are very easy to use. The only "trick" to using the packs is that your hands must be completely dry when handling them or the outer film will begin to dissolve. You should also keep the outer packaging sealed when not in use - especially if you live in a high humidity area.

Since the introduction of single dose laundry detergent packs to North America, there has been a rash of accidents involving children. The pacs should always be kept away from children and pets. They look a bit like candy and can squirt into eyes or mouths if punctured.

My only complaint is that the pacs cannot be used for pre-treating stains. I frequently use liquid detergent to pre-treat heavily soiled areas or food stains. You will need to have a separate stain remover available for treatment.

Pricing is higher than self-dosing laundry detergents and powders. However, you may find that you will save money if you don't always measure carefully when using bulk products. I can easily see how the Sunlight pacs will be embraced by anyone who has to use a community laundry room or laundromat. They are also an excellent idea for anyone with limited mobility or dexterity to handle jugs and heavy boxes of laundry detergent powder.

I would recommend Sunlight triple clean pacs for laundry.
