Sureheat Sonoma Platinum Edition Gas Grill - Discontinued

The Bottom Line

This grill has been discontinued. It is replaced by the Sureheat Tuscany 30 inch 4-Burner Gas Grill (model# SGR30MPL).

The updated version of the Sonoma Grill sold through Costco is a little smaller (450 square inches versus 480) and has lost its complete rotisserie system. The price is the same but you get less grill. What made last year's model good was that you got a full feature grill for $500.

Now you don't. This Costco exclusive grill is a small sized 304 stainless steel grill for a good price, but there's way too many other grills to look at to take this one too seriously.

Guide Review - Sureheat Sonoma Platinum Edition Gas Grill

Sureheat has been making a wide range of grills for many years. Their Altima line of grills are among the best in the world.

Sureheat is also one of the few U.S. based companies to make stainless steel grills specifically for retailers. In the case of the Sonoma grill, it is made exclusively for Costco. As is normal for these kinds of grills this is a completely stainless steel unit with all the standard features like side and rotisserie burners.

The stainless steel construction of this grill is better than many other stainless steel grills in this price range. You get a good sized grill with about 450 square inches of primary cooking space. The BTUs from the three main burners are low at 39,000 and the grill will probably take a minute or two longer to heat up. Some might not be satisfied with the power. The burners are also very small and I can't say that I am completely happy with them. Although, with Sureheat and Costco's support you shouldn't have problems with replacement parts if you need them. The design of the cooking chamber is actually pretty good and this grill will cook very evenly.

The grill comes standard with a 10,000 BTU side burner. While the burner itself is rather weak, it isn't a bad feature. I do worry that it will have rusting problems over time. There is an optional rotisserie system for this grill, but no rear mounted infrared burner. This feature, which has become so standard these days, is noticeably missing from this grill.
