This southwestern-style rub is a great way to spice up brisket. Remember, when applying to the brisket, work the rub into the meat anywhere it is exposed.

What You'll Need

  • 5 tablespoons (75 mL) paprika
  • 3 tablespoons (45 mL) salt
  • 2 tablespoons (30 mL) garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons (30 mL) onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon (15 mL) black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (15 mL) dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons (10 mL) cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons (10 mL) ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 mL) hot chili powder

How to Make It

1. Mix all the ingredients together and apply a thorough coating to meat. Cook as directed.

2. This rub can be made ahead of time and stored for several months in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
