If you start to research outdoor fabrics, you will quickly discover the variety of colors, textures, prints, and brands available. Learn about some of the top names and manufacturers of outdoor and water-resistant fabrics. Some will be familiar, and a few may be new names that you will want to learn more about if you're working on an outdoor cushion or pillow project or need to make curtains, drapes, an overhead cover, or an umbrella replacement cover.

    Bella-Dura was introduced in 2005 by Wearbest Sil-Tex Mills in Garfield, New Jersey. All yards are sourced, dyed, and finished in the United States. The fabric is stain-resistant and water repellent, too.

    What started out as a family upholstery shop in 1952, grew in another direction and Charlotte Fabrics was born. They now offer over 9,000 different fabrics, including a number of outdoor fabrics in different colors, textures, and styles.

    Covington Fabrics has been around since 1940, providing indoor and outdoor fabrics for upholstery, drapery, and bedding in a wide selection of solids, prints, and materials. They offer outdoor fabrics that are fade-, stain-, fire- and water-resistant.

    Made by Glen Raven, Inc., Firesist® awning fabric combines flame-retardant performance and UV resistance for outdoor awnings, canopies, and shades. It's also weather-resistant, which includes both UV and water, and is recyclable.

    Greenhouse Fabrics is located in the Carolinas and offers fabrics for both inside and outside your home. Their InsideOut Fabrics are an all-in-one performance fabric that is flame-resistant and stain-resistant and can handle any weather, in or out.

    Since 1983, Holly Hunt has been a name in the design world, growing from fabric to home accessories and furnishings. Hunt's The Great Outdoors offers an extensive collection of indoor/outdoor fabrics in a variety of prints, patterns, solids, materials, and textures. Their outdoor fabrics are stocked with a stain repellant finish.

    Kravet Soleil features indoor/outdoor fabrics in a variety of fibers, textures, prints, patterns, solids, and stripes. Kravet's Smart Ripples Julep (pictures) is an indoor/outdoor fabric that is 100 percent polyester. Check their fabric specs out as some are flame retardant.

    Osborne & Little

    Among other fabric-related products, Osborne & Little produces several lines of stylish outdoor fabrics in prints, textures, and solids. Kerkyra (pictured) is from the Ionia outdoor/indoor fabric line. They offer flame-retardant and stain-resistant fabrics.

    A part of the Sattler group and headquartered in Austria, Outdura makes solution-dyed acrylic fabric, among other products. Gypsy in crimson (pictured) is a jacquard fabric from Outdura's Ovation line. The Outdura fabric is not only UV fade-resistant, but both abrasion and water-resistant, too.

    The lifestyle brand lets you do-it-yourselfers escape to far-off islands with its line of tropical-themed outdoor fabrics. Hawaiian Holidays Outdoor in Swaying Palms (coal), is one of the brand's retro prints. Coordinates in prints, solids, and stripes are also available.

    Their outdoor fabrics are stain-resistant, and oil and water repellant, too. Always check to ensure the fabric you're getting has these features if you need them.
