It is not hard to spot a little train fan when you see one. Many children have been obsessed with Thomas the Train Engine and Friends. Lots of kids have grown into adults and share their love for these characters with their kids, too. Most holiday wish lists for young children are not complete without train sets, a train table and as many train toys that Santa and his Elves can afford to fit in their stocking.
Many parents note their child's favorite interests and incorporate them into birthday parties and other fun, family activities. There is nothing more fulfilling then seeing the enthusiasm and excitement on a child's face when they can engage in an experience that brings their pretend play world into something fun, real and tangible.
Often times these experiences generally include trips to the movies, ice dancing shows, monster truck venues, stage shows, mall stores such as Build-A-Bear Workshop and theme parks such as Disney World.
For Thomas the Train fans, there are a few options. For 20 years children have been able to find local Thomas the Tank Engine themed events across the nation as part of the Day Out With Thomas Tour, which includes taking a ride on their favorite true-blue engine, and partaking in other trains themed activities. However, for the first time ever, as part of Thomas Land, The Island of Sodor has been re-created to be a permeant fixture of 11 rides at Thomas Land, in Massachusetts.
Thomas Land, owned by toy manufacturer Mattel, will be the newest and largest permanent theme park attraction that features the age-old classic friend, Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas Land will be located in South Carver, Massachusetts on the grounds of Edaville USA, a well-known family attraction in the area that is situated near Boston and Providence, Rhode Island.
In conjunction with the 70th Anniversary of Thomas the Train, Thomas Land opened in August 2015.
At Thomas Land, a 2 mile (20 minute) train ride on Thomas the Tank Engine around the perimeter of the location is also located included in admission. There are other activities children and families can engage in as part of their visit to Edaville USA.
In addition, photo opportunities will be available with Thomas, as well as Sir Topham Hat. Full-scale working models of characters plan to include: Thomas, Diesel, Toby, Cranky the Crane, and Harold the Helicopter. Families can also visit popular destinations in the show that include: Tidmouth Sheds, Knapford Station, and Brendam Docks.
There is a list of some of the planned attractions at Thomas Land. Each ride has it's own specifications for a child's height and supervision. Do not forget to bring along a responsible adult who can ride with children who might not meet the height requirements.
