In the market for a new bed? We tested this top-rated bed from Three Posts, a furniture label exclusive to Wayfair. At just over $600, this isn’t exactly a budget pick, but read on to find out why it’s more than worth the money.

Setup Process: Quick assembly but instructions could be better

This bed arrived at our tester's apartment in a big box that included a headboard, a frame, and a system of slats, or wooden boards, that support the mattress. Take note that you’ll also need your own box spring or bunkie board (a piece of plywood) to place on top of the slats so your mattress doesn’t sag. This bed can also accommodate an adjustable base, and its four tapered wooden legs are removable.

Our reviewer tested this bed in her 900-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment. She told us that the assembly took “maybe an hour at most.” Unfortunately, she was confused when it came time to attach the sides to the headboard and footboard. Unlike most furniture assembly projects, the four sides actually lock together with metal hooks. That wasn't clear from the printed instructions and won't be what you're typically used to. You may even search for screws and a screwdriver like our reviewer did.

Once our tester actually figured out the assembly locking system, she found that one of the hooks on the frame was slightly bent. “I had to use a hammer to force two of the sides together because I couldn't get the hooks in place,” she explained. “Normally, they should just slide in and click to be secure.”

Design: Classic yet sleek

The frame and headboard are both upholstered with linen that comes in three color options (gray, dark gray, and beige). We gave this bed to a reviewer who has a lot of white furniture in her bedroom, so she chose the light gray option to fit in with the current look. Because the three color options are neutral, this bed will mesh with most bedroom styles. Our tester said that the fabric is high quality and described the overall look of the bed as "stylish."

At more than $600, this bed is much less expensive than comparable models at higher-end brands

Durability: Solid and sturdy

When the frame arrived slightly damaged, we were concerned that it would affect the bed's stability over its lifetime. Luckily, after sleeping on this bed nightly for over six months, our tester found that it still holds up quite well. “It doesn't move at all,” she said.

Price: Great value for the cost

If you want a quality bed, you're going to have to spend some money. At more than $600, this bed is much less expensive than comparable models at higher-end brands (like Crate & Barrel). Because it's remained in near-perfect condition over the past six months, we think this bed is a great value. It does exactly what you need it to, looks great, and doesn’t break the bank.

Three Posts Woodside Upholstered Panel Bed vs. Three Posts Bourgeois Tufted Upholstered Panel Bed

Three Posts actually offers another upholstered panel bed with a tufted-button headboard: the Bourgeois Tufted Upholstered Panel Bed. These two models have a lot in common: both are upholstered in 100 percent linen, come in the same three colors, and require a box spring (or bunkie board) to support your mattress.

The differences? Stylistically, the sides of the Bourgeois headboard stick out, while the Woodside headboard is entirely flat. The largest differentiator between the two, however, is price and material quality; the Bourgeois bed is about $200 cheaper, but its frame is made with a combination of solid and manufactured wood; the Woodside bed is made entirely of solid wood.

Final Verdict

Yes, buy it.

This sturdy and stylish bed is a steal for the price. Although its instructions could have been clearer in places, once assembled, it does exactly what you need it to—and it looks great!
