When you think about open faced bagel sandwiches, lox, or smoked salmon, probably comes to mind. Now take that mental image and keep all of its deliciousness but swap out the smoked salmon for fresh slices of tomato and add everything bagel seeds to help make this open-faced sandwich even more next level. The cream cheese is great as-is, but if you're feeling a little bit more adventurous, add some chopped cucumber and fresh mint. You could even add some turkey on top for a little bit more protein. The possibilities of making are endless here!

What You'll Need

  • 1 bagel (everything)
  • 3 tbsp. cream cheese
  • 4 slices of tomato (ripe)
  • 1/2 tsp. scallion (rings)
  • 1 tbsp. onions (pickled red)
  • For the Everything Bagel Seeds:
  • 1 tbsp. garlic (dried minced)
  • 1 tbsp. onion (dried minced onion)
  • 1 tbsp. poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds

How to Make It

  1.  Begin by making the everything bagel seasoning. This recipe will make more than enough for this sandwich so I'd recommend storing it in an airtight container to be used later on. Basically just mix the salt, garlic, onion, sesame, and poppy seeds together in a container and set aside.
  2. Now toast the bagel and let it sit for a second to crisp up. If you add the cream cheese right away, it's harder to get a good spread because the heat will melt the bond between cheese and bread. After you wait a minute, spread half the cream cheese onto each bagel half. Top each half with two slices of tomato, a couple pickled red onion strands, a pinch of scallions, and a pinch of the everything bagel seeds. Serve immediately.
