Top US Equestrian Contenders at the Beijing Olympics

Overall, the U.S. sent a strong equestrian team whose greatest asset was experience. Here are three riders fans saw at the Beijing Olympics.

    Show Jumping

    Beezie Madden has been the cornerstone of the USET Show Jumping team. She had an outstanding performance at the World Equestrian Games in 2006. She is the most successful female show jumping competitor world wide, and veteran of the 2004 Olympics. Madden and Authentic she met with success again taking a silver in the individual competition.

    Peters is a three time Olympian whose accomplishments include a bronze team medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Peters rode Raval, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, through the intricate maneuvers required of a dressage horse in this level.

    Eventer Phillip Dutton rode Connaught, a 15 year-old Irish Sport Horse. Dutton has already collected three gold medals in eventing both as a team and individual. He won those ones for Australia. This time he rode for USA.
