    Learn how to make a pretty origami kimono with these easy to follow step by step instructions. 

    There are a number of ways to fold a kimono in origami, this one produces quite a wide version, which I think is cute!

    The way this origami kimono turns out depends on how to fold at the start, as folding more or less will result in a smaller or larger collar and in turn, smaller sleeves.

    You will need one sheet of square paper for this tutorial, I have used red paper that is 20 x 20 cm. I would...MORE recommend finding some thin origami paper for this, it would look especially nice with traditional yuzen paper.

    1. Starting white side up if you have one, fold the paper in half left to right and unfold.

    2. Now fold both the left and right edges into the middle.

    3. Make sure it's all lined up.

    4. Flip the paper over to the other side.

    5. Fold the top edge down a little, this will be the collar of the kimono.

    Flip the paper over, left to right.

    6. Fold the top right corner down to the middle crease.

    7. The collar should be visible in the middle.

    8. Repeat on the left side.

    9. Holding the top point, bring the bottom behind it. Leaving a gap at the bottom.

    10. Bring the top edge down behind and align with the bottom edge.

    11. Make crease where indicated, it's doesn't have to be exact.

    12. This is about right.

    13. Open the back up and invert the creases you just made. Flatten the model again.

    14. Bring one layer down from the top right..

    15. Leaving the back layer in place.

    16. Flatten out as shown.

    17. Fold the layer underneath the 'sleeves' behind, keeping aligned with the bottom edge.

    18. Fold the top edge over to the back, avoiding the collar.

    You should now have a neat little origami kimono. If yours didn't turn out so neat, give it another go, origami takes patience and practice. ★
