     ​You Will Need

    • 1 photo frame (a 8x10" frame was used)
    • craft knife or scissors
    • A ruler
    • Enough decorative cardstock to cover the frame (example uses 1 sheet of metallic silver cardstock and 1 sheet of sequin cardstock in 12x12")

    • To begin this DIY tray, remove any packaging, along with the back of the photo frame and any all matting or photos inside the frame.

     How To Make A Tray Out Of An Old Photo Frame: Part 2

    • Place the cardstock on top of the frame backing and cut the cardstock to the same size by aligning a ruler on the edge where you want to cut and cutting with a craft knife. If you are unable to cut in this method because your frame has larger hooks in the back that cause the frame backing to wobble, use a ruler and measure out the size of paper you will need and cut the cardstock to size. 
    • If you will need more than one sheet of paper because...MORE your frame is larger than 8x10" to cover the photo frame select a patterned or textural cardstock sheets as they will help to disguise the seam between the two sheets of paper.

    • Place the cut cardstock into the frame so that the side you want to see is against the glass. Secure the paper in place by putting the frame backing on top and secure the frame backing into place using the frames hooks.
    • Flip the frame over and your tray is now ready to use.

    Your DIY photo frame tray can be styled to match your decorating style, here the same frame had the silver cardstock replaced with sequin cardstock to make for a tray perfect for a party, such as New Years or a cocktail party. The completed tray is best used to gather objects together in a beautiful fashion, but depending on the strength of frame it might not be strong enough to carry heavier objects.
