Maintaining good oral health is important. Thankfully, as a servicemember or dependent, affordable dental insurance is just one of the many benefits available to you.

New Plan Administrator

Starting on February 1, 2017, the TRICARE Dental Program (TDP) will be administered by United Concordia, which also ran the plan from 1996 to 2012. Between 2012 and January of 2017, the plan was administered by Met Life.

Availability

TDP serves military personnel and their dependents.in two distinct service areas: CONUS and OCONUS.

The CONUS region consists of all 50 United States, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The OCONUS geographical area covers the rest of the world.

How To Enroll

If you’d like to enroll in the TRICARE Dental Program, the first thing you have to do is decide how to pay your premiums. You can choose between EFT (automatic deduction from your checking or savings account), military payroll payment (the deduction will show up on your Leave and Earnings Statement—LES), and debit/credit card. If you opt for EFT or debit/credit, it’s important to make sure the payments are actually happening. If you close your account or your card expires and you don’t update your info with TDP, your coverage will be cancelled.

For additional information on eligibility, covered services, copays, out-of-pocket maximums, and/or to find a dentist in your area, visit the TRICARE Dental Program Web site or their Facebook page.
