Tuna Green Bean Casserole

An easy tuna green bean casserole recipe with, celery, and white sauce. Serve it with hot cooked rice or noodles.

What You'll Need

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 cans (7 ounces each) tuna, drained, juice reserved
  • 1/2 teaspoon crumbled leaf thyme
  • 1/2 cup finely diced celery
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen green beans, cooked

How to Make It

  1. Heat the oven to 350° F. 
  2. Lightly grease a 1 1/2-quart baking dish (11-by-7-inch baking pan or 8-inch square baking dish).
  3. In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of butter; blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  4. Gradually add milk, constantly stirring, until thickened.
  5. Add thyme, tuna, celery, and green beans; mix well.
  6. Transfer tuna and green beans to the prepared baking dish and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  1. Serve tuna and green beans with hot cooked rice.
