Most of us love a hug, especially one from Snuggle the Bear, the mascot for Snuggle Fabric Softener. According to a recent survey by Snuggle, 85 percent of Americans agree that hugging and snuggling is how they show people they care. Shouldn't that hug feel soft?
Ultra Snuggle with Fresh Release
Since Snuggle hit the shelves, it has been a popular choice as a fabric softener.
The Snuggle line is now divided into liquid fabric softeners and dryer sheets. Within the liquid line, there are Ultra Snuggle in Blue Sparkle, Gentle Spring and Free Clear and Snuggle Exhilarations in Cherry Blossom & Rosewood, White Lavender & Sandalwood, Sweet Blossoms & Wildflowers, White Lilac & Spring Flowers, Blue Iris & Bamboo and Wild Orchid & Vanilla.
Ultra Snuggle is safe to use in both high efficiency (he) and standard washers. It should be added to your washer's fabric softener dispenser or diluted with water before adding to the rinse cycle. Do not pour directly onto fabrics as it can cause spotting.
A warning states that liquid fabric softener can increase fabric flammability. Using more than the recommended amount can increase this effect. The product should not be used on children's sleepwear or garments labeled as flame resistant. It should also not be used on fluffier fabrics like fleece, velour, chenille or terry cloth.
The listed ingredients are fabric softeners (catatonic). The complete list of ingredients can be found on the Sun Products website. They are:
- Quaternary Ammonium Compound
- Lactic Acid
- Calcium Chloride
- Liquitint® Violet
- Liquitint® Blue
The product's Fresh Release Technology offers 14 days of scent through fresh release droplets that release fragrance over time.
The instructions are offered in English and Spanish. The products come in 40, 60, 90, 125 and 197 load sizes.
Snuggle and the Sun Products Story
Snuggle fabric softener was introduced by Unilever to select markets in the early 1980s. By 1989, it was a nationwide brand. Since 1983, Snuggle Bear has been the mascot. The puppet was created by Kermit Love of the Jim Henson Studios. The voice was originally provided by Corinne Orr. As of late 2009, the bear is voiced by Elena M. Schloss, a New York animation and commercial voice over actor. In 2008, Unilever sold the brand to Sun Products.
Sun Products Corporation is a North American manufacturer and marketer of fabric care and household products with annual sales of more than $2 billion. It holds the second largest market share in North America. Sun employs 3,500 people and maintains offices and Research & Development facilities in Fairfield County, Connecticut; Salt Lake City, Utah and Toronto, Canada. Manufacturing facilities are under operation in Salt Lake City, Utah; Bowling Green, Kentucky; Dyersburg, Tennessee; Baltimore, Maryland and Houston, Texas.
Sun Products was formed in September 2008 from the combination of Unilever’s North American fabric care business and Huish Detergents, Inc, a leading manufacturer of private label laundry and dish products.
It is headquartered in Wilton, Connecticut.
Product Review and Laundry Recommendation
I gave Ultra Snuggle Blue Sparkle a try with our laundry. The clothes came out soft and static-free. If you love the scent, you'll get plenty as the scent is said to last for fourteen days.
I will admit that I'm not a big fan of most fabric softeners due to the coating they leave on fabrics. The coating makes the clothing less flame resistant, less absorbent and less breathable while wearing. I prefer to soften our clothes and linens with baking soda or white distilled vinegar. However, if you like to add scent, Ultra Snuggle is a good choice and is less expensive that other national brands.
