We all know the power of smell when it comes to selling a house with feng shui. The "smell to sell" is a commonly accepted real estate strategy that often brings great results. The power of specific scents, such as the scent of freshly baked cookies, fresh bread, coffee, or cinnamon warms up prospective buyers and makes them instantly feel at home in your home.
This is a classical example of feng shui in action, meaning using the subtle energy effects of specific remedies to create good energy and achieve a favorable emotional response.
Feng shui-wise, I would highly encourage you to use the power of scents in your house even when you have no plans for selling it. Are you actually aware of how your house smells? Ask a friend or a neighbour and you might be surprised by the answer (hopefully, surprised in a good way!)
In feng shui we know that scents are very powerful, so different scents can be used for different purposes. You can transform the energies in a subtle way to achieve the desired results, as everything is energy.

Kids are too cranky? Drop a couple of chamomile or lavender essential oils in an oil diffuser and watch your children gradually calm down. No need to keep repeating the same words over and over again, let the scents do the job!

Need to stay up late working on a project? Choose rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus or lemongrass essential oils for your home office to keep you awake while you have to work late at night.

In the mood for love? Ylang-ylang, sandalwood, rose and jasmine are the classical essential scents for a sensual bedroom. You can also use vanilla, neroli, lavender or experiment with any other pure scents that awaken your sensuality.

In the process of creating good feng shui by using essential oils it is important to be aware that synthetic scents have very little power and often only pollute the air with chemicals. Be smart and go for pure and natural essential oils.
Working with pure scents to create specific moods/energies is an easy choice to keep the feng shui in your home fresh and happy. And you do deserve a happy home, don't you?
