Kitchen towels are the unsung heroes of the kitchen, the cleanup crew that mops up messes, wipes down counters, and dries hands, produce, and dishes. We rarely think about them until we need them—a dire situation that we avoid at all costs since we have five kids, lots of messes, and loads of laundry. One thing is for certain: Not all kitchen towels are alike. From thin to thick, small to large, soft and fluffy to stiff and smooth, and even, plain white to decorative, certain rags excel at particular jobs in the kitchen and the home. Performance: Masters at multitasking

We genuinely love these Utopia Kitchen Flour Sack Dish Towels. Whenever we’re doing work in the kitchen, it seems that one of these towels is either draped over a shoulder, on the counter next to us, or in our hands. These are thinner towels than we’re used to. At first, we thought we wouldn’t like lack of fluff factor because, to be absorbent usually meant a thicker towel, but not so with this thinner kitchen gem. We like the lightness and soft feel of the fabric, which is oddly very absorbent despite (or because of) its delicate weave. These towels are easy and pleasant to hold. 

The only times we prefer to use a terry cloth rags are for drying a lot of soaking wet dishes, wiping very wet countertops, or cleaning significant food debris messes. They certainly can work for these chores, but a bar mop towel works best for those jobs. we find these towels get wet very quickly in those scenarios, which makes lots of drying counterproductive without switching to a new towel. We tend to save the wet or messy stuff for my thicker dish towels. However, despite their thin weave, they are also deceptively absorbent and quick drying. 

In addition to its classic dish towel uses, this product is perfect for drying produce. We love that they are large enough to wrap around your wet fruits and veggies for optimal drying. The delicacy and lightness of the fabric are gentle enough for berries or any other delicate items. They also work well for wiping down kitchen counters, dining tables, and any other surface (wet or dry). These multi-tasking wonders can dust, clean windows, or wipe down the sink. Then, throw them in a washing machine. 

Design: Classic

This flour sack set comes in a pack of 12 white 100% ring-spun cotton. These 28-inch by 28-inch square towels are knitted with a diagonal tight weave, making them soft and absorbent, quick-drying, shrink-resistant, lightweight, and lint-free. You can use the material on any surface. It is very sturdy and durable and feels light and soft.

We usually prefer a slightly smaller dish towel to cut down on excess bulk, but these light towels don’t feel overly big, and their larger size is ideal for drying produce, which we do daily. We also use them to spread over the kitchen counter as another drying surface for pots and pans when our drying rack is full, which is another time we appreciate their more significant dimensions. 

These Utopia Kitchen Flour Sack kitchen towels are also an ideal simple cloth to use for embroidery. They have lots of other potential uses, such as a sustainable alternative to paper towels. They can be used to wrap bread or rolls to keep them warm while also absorbing excess moisture for rising dough or substituting as cheesecloth. They are also great for dusting and cleaning windows. 

Ease of Cleaning: Better with each wash

Utopia Kitchen Flour Sack Dish Towels can be cleaned in the washing machine and dried on low. Wash before their first use. Our towels come out of the dryer softer with each wash. Since they are solid white, you can use bleach if necessary to remove any lingering stains, but, so far, our towels have retained their bright white color without the use of bleach.

Price: Reasonable

Utopia Kitchen Flour Sack Dish Towels cost about $16, which is a reasonable price for 12 all-cotton, durable towels. Compared with the other flour sack towels on the market, they are less expensive than the competition, which ranges from about $15 to $25 or more. The Utopia Kitchen towels are a decent quality towel and at an excellent price.

Both of these dish towel sets come with 12 towels each. A set of Utopia Towels Dish Towel sells for for about $14 and offers a thicker, stiffer towel with blue stripes running down either side of the towel; they’re also smaller at 15-inches by 25-inches. The Flour Sack towel set costs a bit more at $16 for larger, thinner, all-white towels. Both are great options for many kitchen purposes, including drying, hand-wiping, and general cleaning. However, if we could only buy one set, we would get the flour sack style. We prefer the drapey feel of its fabric and appreciate its larger size for wrapping and drying washed produce.
