Valerie Ott is a former writer for The Spruce, where she wrote on home accessories and ways to add simple style to a home for more than two years. She is a former librarian who uses writing as a creative outlet. She served as the Editor of N2 Publishing and is currently copy chief at JOANN. While she was a stay-at-home mom, Ott began her Home Made Modern blog about her passion: how to create a smart and stylish life while making the everyday special for her family. After several years, Ott has become a self-taught expert in the area of home accessories and has been featured on the Better Homes & Gardens website, as well as numerous successful blogs such as Centsational Girl, Knock Off Decor, and Tatertots & Jello.
Ott earned a B.A. in English Language/Letters from Xavier University and a Master of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.S.) in Library and Information Science at Kent State University.
