What Do Korean People Eat For Breakfast?

I've been asked many times over the years what Korean people usually eat for breakfast. I think it's a good question because traditionally, there are no “breakfast foods” like there are in America. In the past, Korean people ate the same type of food for all their meals; so rice, a small bowl of soup or stew, and any number of side dishes (banchan) would also make up the first meal of the day.

But in this global community, it's not uncommon to see people in Korea eating cereal or fruit and pastries for breakfast.

The last time I was in Korea, I fell in love with the sweet egg sandwich sold by vendors everywhere in Korean cities. Gaeran tost-u (egg toast) is hearty, delicious, and easy to make.
