What is the Lifespan of a Pet Skunk?

In the wild, skunks are reported to live about five years.

In captivity, though, a pet skunk will live, on average, six to ten years. Some reports of twenty-year-old skunks have been made, but large rescue facilities (such as Skunk Haven) are still sticking to the six- to ten-year lifespan.

The longer life in captivity is assuming proper skunk care and nutrition is provided and that there is no chance for predators to attack.
