This vinegar-based barbecue sauce works just as well as a mop as it does a table sauce. This recipe is very similar to the sauce served at the famous Wicker's BBQ from Missouri.

What You'll Need

  • 1 1/4 cups (300 mL) cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) black pepper
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons (12.5 mL) salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (7.5 mL) sugar
  • 4 teaspoons (20 mL) chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) ground cumin

How to Make It

1. Combine all ingredients and cook for 5 to 10 minutes to dissolve spices.

2. Remove sauce from heat and let cool completely before using (about 20 to 25 minutes). Use as a marinade and basting sauce with your favorite BBQ recipe.
