Yelena Moroz Alpert

Yelena Moroz Alpert made her first debut in design and decorating when she helped her grandmother paint window trim. Today, she is trying her hand at remodeling her 1938 house. You can follow her progress on her Instagram page @morozy.

When she isn't looking at paint samples or attempting to install tile, she is likely gardening and making bouquets for every room of the house. She spends her free time discovering nature trails in northeast Ohio with her husband and two boys. Luckily, her parenting skills are better than her plant parenting skills.

Experience

Yelena has been a freelance writer for more than a decade, penning stories for Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, and the Wall Street Journal, among others. Prior to that, she worked as a research editor for Brides magazine and ate more wedding cake for lunch than necessary. In addition to home and interior design, Yelena has written about lifestyle and parenting for Real Simple, TheBump.com, and National Geographic Family.

Education

While working on a Bachelor's degree in Marketing at the University of Florida, Yelena realized that writing for magazines is her true passion. She then enrolled in a graduate program in Journalism and Mass Communication, also at the University of Florida. A decade later, she went back to the University of Florida, this time, as a lecturer and taught undergraduates about feature writing.
